Thorough Forensic Reports With Functional and PhysiologicInformation

Convenient Facility Location: Your patient may be scanned at a facility near where they live or work. You'll have a diverse network of facilities from which to choose, compared to a single site where the scanner can break down, personnel can be sick, scheduling can be backed up, the hours of operations or the distance of the site from the patient's home or work may be inconvenient. By utilizing the network of scanning facilities offered through Daniel Powers M.D., the patient will be happier with the choices. This will reflect more positively on your practice and gives you a more positive review for accommodating their needs.

Additionally, by having different scanners available, there may be specific medical circumstances which demand a specific scanner such as an open magnet for a claustrophobic patient, a high strength magnet for a small body part, or a scanner using specific software or coils for a specific examination.

Second Opinions - Comparison of outside imaging studies performed and interpreted by others with present studies, reinterpretation of prior studies and the adequacy of the reporting and/or quality of the scans all are beneficial to patient care and useful to the referring physician. These services are offered by Dr. Powers. Additionally, so often, multiple objective tests are obtained but yet never put together in terms of the whole. Thus, an example is a patient who broke her hip with a dispute over the age of the fracture of the hip yet when asked to review the imaging studies of this individual there were studies both from the clinic before and after the accident. Not only was there a hip fracture present but it was demonstrated that there was a new compression fracture of the lower thoracic spine previously normal on the prior clinic x-rays and abnormal on the present studies, and a bone scan had been performed that indicated a tibial plateau fracture occurring after the date of injury. Thus, the patient was noted to have three separate fracture injuries - the information, all of which was present, but never put together as a whole.

Primary insurance type patients as well as forensic cases accepted - Dr. Powers strengths are in the area of musculoskeletal imaging including the spine and joints as well as evaluating the chest for possible occupational dust or fiber exposure. He spent years interpreting trauma x-rays at L.A. County/USC Medical Center. Additional backup physician services are available to interpret other specialty cases if not in the area of expertise of Dr. Powers.

In the forensic area, depending on the site involved, different types of reporting is available. In the plaintiff situation, elaboration of specifics such as an explanation as to what the findings mean and why they may cause clinical symptomatology or disability is presented along with a grading system describing the amount of soft tissue damage. Defense reports can be tailored to specific questions with explanations as to the presence or absence of a specific finding and as to why or why not the finding is revelant. Depending on the state and the circumstances involved in the case, liens may be accepted on plaintiff cases.
